HILLSIDE, NJ — Hillside firefighters responded Sunday afternoon to a fire at a two-family residence on Long Avenue, where crews entered the building and conducted overhaul after quickly knocking down the fire.
A Hillside Fire Department deputy chief told Jersey Alerts at the scene that all occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived. The department’s first two engine companies quickly knocked down and extinguished the fire, he said.
Firefighters then overhauled and cleared the building. The property was being returned to the homeowners as crews wrapped up operations, according to the deputy chief.
